Artek Sedia 1 Interpretations for Presentation House Gallery

Presentation House Gallery in North Vancouver is hosting its annual gala and benefit auction on Saturday, November 23, 2013. The items for this year’s auction are really interesting and best of all you can come see many of them ahead of time at the Inform showroom in Gastown.

Some of Vancouver’s best artists, designers and architects have been asked to reinterpret and refashion Artek’s iconic Sedia 1 chair. This minimalist self-assembled pine chair, originally produced in 1974, is a model of modernist furniture design, noted for its elegance and modesty.

A Copper Crown for Gastown

Inform is located in the oldest commercial district of Vancouver – Gastown. Circa 1900, Water Street (then called Front Street) was where Vancouver first started to become a city. Many of the building’s facades have been maintained and kept true to the spirit of old Gastown.

Gastown in the early 1900s.

Every morning when we go to work some of us have to drive down Blood Alley to get to our parkade.

On those lucky days we get to experience a transition phase of many of the neighborhoods less desired furniture pieces. We are sure to snap a photo every time we see one and we’re happy to share our favorites with you.

Live or work in Gastown? See some interesting happenings in the neighborhood?

Email us some photo’s and captions here.

A recent addition to Gastown is the beautifully finished showroom of Bulthaup Kitchens. Located on the corner of Abbot and Cordova across from the Woodwards development site, a shining gem in the continued revitalization of the Gastown area.

Entering the showroom you get a sense of serene warmth with the natural woods and utility with the steel. The surfaces beg you to fulfill their intended use. The B1 system is inexpensive and simple, a great working kitchen that hides nothing. My favorite piece is the massive oak cabinet from the B2 system, I love how much storage is put on display in such a neat and tidy way. Offering a perfectly designed and executed product, a great line to work with Vancouver’s homes.

Elegantly showcasing each kitchen system Tuesday through Saturday; visit them to see which one is right for you.
