Charles Eames was born in 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri and by the time he was 14 years old was working part time at the Laclede Steel Company where he learned about engineering, drawing and architecture and first entertained the idea of one day becoming an architect.

At Inform we believe that design appreciation can start at any age. Many of our clients have been coming to our store for years and years, with this we’ve experienced their changes in style and taste as well as the changes in their family structure with the addition of some amazing children!
Above Verner Panton’s classic chair has be introduced in a children’s size. Durable, stackable, and colourful.
Not all products suitable for children are designed for their use. The CORK stools by Jasper Morrison and VITRA are a great small table for kids and with no hard sharp corners it’s safe too.

When looking at design products for children it is hard to overlook the magnificent pieces by Charles and Ray Eames.

Sometime ago, I visited our neighbours at Met Home and Mary was kind enough to let me snap some pictures of her great classics.
Visit them at:
217 W Hastings St.
Every time I go and visit her showroom I am reminded of why I love furniture so much. These pieces come from all over and are generally those of their era. The store is always changing with new goods but one of my favourite pieces that turned up was a pair of Kids Molar chairs by American Wendell Castle.
With proper love and care you can see how well great quality furniture holds up. Most of the pieces in the following pictures are still in production today and available in our store.
Left: The Eames chaise designed by Charles & Ray for their director friend Billy Wilder (this particular piece is one of the first one hundred produced by Vitra with a deep purple base)
Right: A blue velvet Eames Aluminum group lounge chair. With the original four spoke base (later switched to a five spoke for safety)

It has been a long time coming but the Herman Miller Eames Dowel Base is finally here!
Originally constructed of fibreglass and one of the most popular chairs of all time, Herman Miller introduced a selection of these chairs in 2001 and increased the selection in 2005 as part of their ‘Get Real’ campaign. The first chairs were designed for the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture organized by the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1948. Beautifully finished and elegantly formed, these chairs are available in 5 colours.
