September 27th to the 30th, Interior Design Show West held their 8th annual show at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Many familiar faces as well as new ones were there to celebrate, share and discuss interior design on the west coast.

1950 Meda, Italy: a pioneer in furniture design was born. One of the most under-stated designers in the business today, Citterio continues to design countless objects that most designers could only dream of creating.
Citterio graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and since 1972 continues to design for most of the leading furniture and accessory manufacturers world-wide, such as B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Iittala, Kartell, and Vitra. B&B Italia’s Maxalto collection is designed and coordinated exclusively by Antonio Citterio.
He has also been engaged in architectural works, dealing with construction projects and interiors, both in Italy and abroad. Citterio holds lectures and conferences and his work has been extensively exhibited and published.
Last Wednesday through Sunday, at the new Vancouver Convention Centre, there was a thrill for the senses. The talented and very organized folks behind Interior Design Show West provided the interior design industry of the West Coast and beyond a chance to show off their latest and greatest. There were countless exhibits, insightful speakers and brilliant designs from well established and emerging creatives.
We exhibited some of what we have to offer in design excellence from around the world. Lines of fluorescent tape ran across our booth and over pieces that led to panels reading the names of those piece’s countries of origin.
Marcel Wanders is originally from Boxtel, Holland and graduated from the School of the Arts Arnhem in 1988. Wanders’ fame started with his Knotted Chair, which he produced for Droog in 1996(image right).
The Millennium Water development on False Creek is quickly becoming a popular destination for interior design enthusiasts as well as those seeking new and modern residence near downtown Vancouver. The cherry blossoms have been blooming for sometime outside my living room window and now March has arrived with sunny Spring close on its heels. It’s time to start planning for some outdoor parties and to order some outdoor dining, lounging, and napping furniture to bring it all together. Don’t forget to add an umbrella to your list, a great way to get some often needed shade.
