Nest | Homes on Burnaby Mountain

One of the wonderful things about working at Inform is the diversity within the staff and our clients. We
have the opportunity to use our skills in different aspects and to work on projects of all sizes and
varieties.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Sharron Bortolotto from BBA Design. Together we
furnished the presentation centre for the Nest development at SFU.

Sharron’s vision to use “real” furniture, “classic” furniture and furniture that was accessible to everyone,
drew me to the project. All of the items used in the Mosaic Homes presentation centre are standard size
and can be purchased through Inform Interiors. There were no custom made beds or sofas’ trying to
make the suite appear larger than it really was.

Designer Focus | Philippe Starck

Wild man, free spirit, just plain crazy, call him what you will, we think he’s genius!

All of his designs are consistent in their eccentricities, you may chuckle when seeing them for the first time but you will always walk away with a little more respect for Mr. Starck. Often copied, never duplicated, Starck pieces speak volumes of the designer’s lust for life and devout passion for aesthetics and function.

Starck was born in Paris on January 18, 1949. He studied at École Nissim de Camondo and opened his first design firm, specializing in inflatable products, in 1968. Starck’s vast repertoire includes commercial and residential interiors, watches, toothbrushes, electronic devices, lighting, and furniture, to name a few.

Ron Arad – No Discipline at the MoMA NY

An amazing exhibit at the MoMA ended recently, Ron Arad – No Discipline.

Many one off and some production pieces were on display, all laid out on a large twisting grid designed by the man himself.

Images don’t do justice to the beauty of his pieces. The metal work when seen at the scale it is done is breathtaking and each object begs to be touched (but they were watching me). Each piece was ingenious and expertly crafted, all showcased the brilliant rule breaking designs of Ron Arad.
