‘Chairless’ sitting by VITRA

www.vitra.com/chairless

Introduced at this years Salone de Mobile the Vitra ‘Chairless’ is referred to as a tool for the modern nomad.

A simple strap uses the tension created by the opening form of the human body to provide the user with a mobile seating support system.

Designed by Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena, the inspiration was taken from supportĀ straps used by the Ayoreo Indians (native to the border region between Paraguay and Bolivia).

Aravena’s designs follow the principle of ‘irreducibility’. His works are reduced to the most utilitarian of forms.

Newly designed site www.flexform.it

www.flexform.it

Flexform has done a much needed update to their website and has incorporated some interesting new features. Their product line has always been one of our best sellers and we have always relied on their complete and informative catalogues to communicate this to our clients.

Along with an entirely new graphical layout, a strong distinction has been made between the brands Standard and MOOD collections.

The traditional navigation is fluid and simple to use, with an emphasis on the lines beautiful product photography.

Unfortunately they seemed to have forgotten to add all the technical specifications.

All our clients are invited to use our www.informshop.com for all their specifying needs (click to view)

What really caught my eye on this new site is the new ‘Experience Navigation‘ system that they have developed.

Junior Design Addicts

At Inform we believe that design appreciation can start at any age. Many of our clients have been coming to our store for years and years, with this we’ve experienced their changes in style and taste as well as the changes in their family structure with the addition of some amazing children!

Above Verner Panton’s classic chair has be introduced in a children’s size. Durable, stackable, and colourful.

Not all products suitable for children are designed for their use. The CORK stools by Jasper Morrison and VITRA are a great small table for kids and with no hard sharp corners it’s safe too.

Collectors of Alexander Girards dolls can start their kids off with a single piece of their choice.

Knoll has started producing their iconic mid-century pieces in scaled down forms. Now people of all ages can enjoy the comfort of Eero Saarinen’s Womb Chair (suggested use shown above).

When looking at design products for children it is hard to overlook the magnificent pieces by Charles and Ray Eames.

We received our first batch of images from Milan prior to the start of the show. These photos are of events, installations, and showrooms located around Milan.

Not all the brands show right in the Fiera Milano fair grounds. Some of the brand showrooms are almost as large as ours here in Vancouver.

New from B&B Italia, Established & Sons x Venini, and Cassina.
