Cutlery | Arne Jacobsen for Georg Jensen

Arne Jacobsen was one of the leading Scandinavian architects and industrial designers of the 20th century. His 1957 introduction of a line of cutlery for Georg Jensen was definitely a highlighted moment in his impressive career. What strikes me most about his cutlery was how revolutionary it was. With extremely simple and bold lines, it was unlike anything that existed before. Previous styles of cutlery for Georg Jensen were nothing like those created by Jacobsen.

New BD Lounger by Jaime Hayon

Spanish designer Jaime Hayon and Barcelona Design have unveiled their latest collaboration, the Lounger. Available in monocolors, the chair is a strong representation of Hayon’s whimsical interpretation of classic design.

As a designer Jaime Hayon has worked on a variety of high profile projects ranging from shows for Camper, lighting for Swarovski Crystal palace, and Vases for Baccarat crystal. All are available (except the Campers) through Inform Interiors.

Lancaster by Michael Young and Emeco

The Lancaster chair and table by Michael Young is the latest wood/aluminum fusion by Emeco. Last year they introduced a solid wooden seat for their chairs as a change of options.

This interesting project was completed with Emeco’s partners, a nearby Amish wood factory in Lancaster, PA (hence the name). The hand crafted sculptural wood legs join cleanly to the aluminum seat and back.
